NOTE: This is not a portrait of Oscar as a puppy. Nor is it a portrait of yours truly cheating on my Ridgeless wonder with (gasp!) someone else's Ridgeback babe. Nay, this is beautiful Alison and her adorable boy, Nigel (who is likely too big already to hug at this height). The first portrait I've done in "Oscar blog" style, I think it came out mighty alright. Since the piece was finished digitally, the delivered artwork was actually a beautiful, archival-quality giclée print - and the quality was so fine... I almost didn't want to pack it up and put it in the mail...

Thank you Jess! Wonderful to check out your blog as well! It would appear that the stubbornness of the Ridgeback is simply legendary... :)

I love that, you captured her face, and the dog so well.

Thanks for your beautiful work, Natalya. We're getting this framed and hanging it up very soon. And you're right, he has already gotten a bit too big to pick up like this - 60 lbs right now. His extreme growth might partially be due to his super counter-surfing skills as of late. We need a higher counter. : )

Great illustration. Nigel looks like a very cute, loved puppy.
